I got an M1 Carbine from Romans a few years ago. I think my Beretta M1951 is from the Hebrews. First time I shot a Garand it was a Revelation to me.

Hope to get a Garand from the Thessalonians some day.

Im sure they'll be ridiculously overpriced

No the CMP sells at fair market value and most people who get one believe they could immediately sell it for more than they paid. Now the auction items seem to go for high dollar but they are the special items particularly interesting to collectors.

Visit the CMP forum and see for your self.

This thread covers it pretty well including the recent price increase.

How many carbines did they the last go round?

There were 7,000 orders that were post-marked on day one for approx 2,000 carbines.

The lottery consisted of the first 2,000 envelopes opened. Folks were seriously pissed by this, hence the new lottery structure for the 1911s.

A Garand thread with good news? Am I dreaming? Most of these threads I see here are telling us M1 Garands are never ever to be found again at CMP, and the ones you can find are sewer pipes, when I was a young shooter I could get a Garand for $25, etc. :)

    Kidding.

    Awesome news.

Actually, in 1980 you could get a M1 Garand for $63 from the predecessor to the CMP. They were pretty much guaranteed not to blow up when you pulled the trigger with M2 ball ammo. Other than that you were on your own. :)

Thanks canstop. I'm interested in this new load of M1s. I missed the boat way back so it's time I add a M1. I hesitated on the carbine deal and my app got there on day two. I'm not sure I want to deal with this lottery crap shoot system.
