lock gun in bag, give key to a friend to hold?

I wouldn't try it. The SCOTUS ruling said access. Is the definition of access specific enough to glean it's meaning according to the Court?

Let us know how it turns out.

DC and Maryland are interesting places... It would be interesting to take metro with a rifle locked in a case to Virginia and back to Marylandistan via metro... Perfectly legal even in DC to travel through according to FOPA.

Again, is the locked case adequate enough to deny you access as ruled by SCOTUS? If you have the key you have access and therefore no FOPA protection accoridng to Revell vs Port Authority of NY and NJ.

Just my opinion. Isn't the law easy to comprehend?

You couldn't pay me to bring a firearm of any type on the DC Metro. I even make sure I don't have a loose round or two in my bag when I ride (I hear they can charge you for even having a loose 22lr round in your bag if you don't have a firearm registered in DC).
