First time that I have ever heard of police trade-in ammo. I figured that they would have to use it up in order to get more, unless they switching to a new caliber handgun.

I've seen it advertised before, but loose in ammo cans. Some LEO commented after they carry ammo unfired for a period of time, they would empty their mags and get some fresh. This stuff comes in the original 50rd boxes like it was unissued.

    New in box

This stuff was never loaded into magazines and dumped into a bucket at the PD range. Looks like surplus, the shipping box was never even opened. Whoohoo!!! :party29:

I've occasionally found what I believe is LE surplus ammo. Both times it was Speer GHDP in 50 round boxes. I've gotten both 40 S&W and 38+P and it was MUCH cheaper than the standard 20 round boxes. The boxes were marked LE.

Maybe surplus from when an agency changed caliber?

I think that this was from LAX ammo and SGAmmo.

Can't prove it is police "trade-in" ammo but I like the price. I can actually afford to shoot some of it and practice.
