Well, that's not totally off topic, just off caliber for me.

A stainless Rossi in .357/.38 would probably be a fine first levergun, so if anybody else knows of one floating around out there, give me a poke.

I'm willing to drive around a bit. MoCo isn't the only place I ever shop..

I'm in the market for a .357 lever gun that's NOT a Henry. I like the side loading gate on the Winchester pattern rifles. The prices on gunbroker are slightly north of what I want to pay but not ridiculously so.

Bump. There's a 20" Rossi (in 357) on GB now, stainless, any opinions on that? Also still looking locally, have decided I want either an 1892 action or a Henry, and yes I know they're different beasts...

I’m not seeing it on gun broker in stainless but I’m seeing a few blued 92’s. I got a blued one at the last Frederick show and really like mine even though it has the safety and hammer lock. I just shot it 2 weeks ago and it functioned flawlessly with 357’s and 38SPl’s. I just got the Steve’s Guns do it yourself action video kit but I really don’t think it needs it as mine action feels smooth to me, may still do it in the future. Here’s a picture of it(bottom) and my Rossi 92 in 454 Casull(top). I don’t think you can go wrong with a Rossi!
You might want to check the guys I got mine from. They have always been at the Frederick and Howard gun shows but they are not a IP here, it was 3R Guns. I have there contact info if you want it just PM me. Their card says Hagerstown and Mechanicsburg but I don’t know if they have a store front. I know at the shows they always have a lot of lever actions of all makes but mostly Marlin’s and Henry’s. I paid just over $550 for my Rossi.

I have a Puma/Rossi 44 Mag... goes bang each and every time... paid 500 new several years ago, stainless at Gander. I like it, more I shoot it smoother it gets. Wood is as nice as any around.

Also I understand some of the early Rossiís front sights were part of the barrel band that turns off some buyers. My two Rossiís have the front sight on the barrel itself with a separate barrel band.

Rossi seems to have dropped the brass bead on the front sight. A friend's had the bead but mine didn't. The hole for mounting the bead is still there however.

Maybe it fell out? Mine has it as you can see and I got to think itís a newer production with the hammer lock and safety.

I have a SS 357 Rossi. I bought it about 5 years ago and it has trouble cycling 357, rounds jam when loading into the chamber. I've tried FMJ round nose and flat point neither loads smoothly and it happens on every try. It cycles 38 sp fine. If using 357 rounds it's effectively a single shot rifle.

It does shoot fine. Very accurate and fun to shoot 38 sp with, but I wouldn't trust it to use for home defense or anything, just a range toy.
