I doubt it would be reliable, without a lot of fundamental re-engineering by a skilled gunsmith.

I guess all the naysayers were never exposed to C96 Mausers , or '48 Dragoons in their formative years .

A good friend's father had a shoulder stock Red Nine Mauser , that he personally obtained from a dead SS Officer .

Much classier than this ungainly 1911.
I seriously doubt a 16" barrel 1911 would be reliable without some re-engineering.
