I missed out on the boom days of cheap milsurps flooding the country. At the time I was distracted by a failed business, wife left, paying child support. I didn't have a pot to piss in. When the 1909 Argy's were being sold everywhere, I had to settle for a bayonet and scabbard with matching numbers between them.
Recently I found a 1909 Argentine Rifle on Gunbroker. It wasn't cheap compared to "the day", but it was a good buy considering what they go for today. It's got 100% matching numbers, very good bore, and was still in cosmo. I only cleaned it, and added a period correct sling. I'm happy, it only took about twenty years.
