Great condition - now I just need the bayonet, monopod and cleaning rod.

Looks nice! I know next to nothing about the Arisaka's - except that I own one.
Did yours come with a dust cover? Mine didn't but I was told that by the time mine was made, they weren't even issued with it or the mono-pod.

Congrats on a great piece of WW2 history.

No dust cover - I may/may not pick one up. This one has the monopod lug so I guess it may have originally came with one. I'm not sure what year it was made but I reckon 1939-1945 is close.

    That's awful purdy. Congrats!

You can spend lot's of $'s for the missing original accessories. Repro cleaning rods and slings etc. can be found here (cheaper than GB auctions BTW):

So, where you gonna get ammo to shoot in your beautiful new toy? Better get into reloading (if you're not already)...:innocent0

Thanks for the link - probably not gonna shoot it. I used to reload .38, .357, 9mm and .45 but I got lazy and stopped.

No fair! Arisakas can be very accurate and fun shooters. :) Reloading 7.7J isn't difficult and dies, brass and bullets are easily affordable. My Nagoya series 1 out shoots many of my other rifles. You may not know what you're missing. :innocent0

Very cool, I've got one quite similar. It's fun to play with the anti-aircraft sights.
I once found a 20rd box of ammo made by Norma, it was like $45!
Probably not going to be shooting mine either but I sure do want to.
I've been looking for a bayonet and a monopod but don't want repros.
Original bayonets seem to be around $150-$250+.
Haven't found any monopods but there's probably some on ebay.

I inherited mine from my father-in-law. The history of it is sketchy. He brought it back with him from WWII, but he was an artillery office in Europe. Although I never asked him about it, he probably traded something for it from a GI who fought in the Pacific. I hope he didn't trade a Luger for it!

That Bayo looks like the one the Jap soldier drew and charged with in the series, The Pacific.
