    Glen Burnie
    It was sold today.

I received an answer from the seller concerning the slide - his response:

    Hi,

It looks like a combination of very minor imperfections in metal,
aluminum oxide preparation & a heavy gloss Duracoat finish. In my
    opinion, not pitting.

    aluminum oxide preparation ??
The slide is steel not aluminium and I'm sure it was milled not cast so any imperfections would be rust pitting .
Just guessing here since I never owned this model pistol.

You are probably right - it could be combined with a sloppy duracoat job too.

I think he meant large (coarse) grit sandblasting., which implies pitting anyway....
