I remember a past video when people asked The Yankee Marsal what the best gun was for a bear..
He said none.. That it was just plain stupid to think anyone should give a bear a gun.. They already outweigh us, claws that will tear you up, crazy sense of smell (can smell a dead carcass 20 miles away), one of the strongest jaws, and flat out brute strength..stronger than any human on this planet already..
So why on earth you would want to give a bear a gun aka our only tactical advantage over them on top of all that
.357 Magnum is no joke. Fired in a lever action carbine, it can reach close to 30-30 Winchester ballistics under 100 yds. From a handgun, this often means muzzle velocity in excess of 1,00 fps and 400+ ft-lbs., depending on the ammuntion.

Impossible! Maryland says a .357 magun rifle doesnt have enough power to kill a whitetail deer let alone a 679 pound bear

hahah i spoke to the DNR about this when they passed the law to allow airgun hunting which doesn't meet the 1,200 foot pounds. they said due to the modern projectiles blah blah blah... it's fine. Then i pointed out that if you had a subsonic 458 socom for example.. which is bigger than their .40 minimum required for airguns.. and gave it 1,100 foot pounds of energy.... while it's a bigger entry hole AND 3-4x the energy.. it's still not MD legal for deer hunting UNLESS.. it's a 458 socom PISTOL which follows different rules....
rules/regulations make no sense sometimes.
