For those of you who have an AR pistol of whatever caliber, what kind of case do you use to carry or transport it? I figure that a regular pistol case would be too small and a rifle case would be too big. Just looking for what others are using.

google is your friend, I am not.
First, what purpose are we talking about? To and from the range? Or a hiking trip?

Second, what is the OAL? I have a extra small rifle case that fits bullpups and large format pistols, if they are <29" (well, technically, 29" requires some squeezing).

Sorry about that. I am talking about to and from the range. Since it hasn't been built yet, I don't know the overall length. It has a 7 1/2 barrel and a 7 inch buffer tube, if that helps.

Thanks for the link. I guess I can throw the major pieces together to get an idea of the final length. I just didn't want something overly large or I would be tempted to fill it.

Laptop bag. I pop off the upper and the 8.5" blackout pistol fits in there like a glove.

I have a couple of older school backpacks. I picked up a couple of youth baseball bat bags from thrift stores. They normally run $2 to $5 each. Throw loaded magazines in one bag and the pistol in one of the other bags. I've used the cloth reusable grocery store bags at times. Throw a couple of cleaning rags on top of the pistol and put it in the trunk. I like cases that don't draw attention to themselves.

I have a shallow Festool box. My 10.5" pistol wont fit but I'm thinking an 8.5" upper will.

Does anyone have an 8.5" uppered AR pistol handy? I'd like to get an overall length before I buy one.
