Damn , i would have bet ice cubes it was the coil that needed cleaned .

    Well.....

I got home and looked. I’m not sure what my wife was looking at, but the coil was filthy. I cleaned it. It seems to be cooling, but will need a few hours to tell for sure.

My wife said “I feel bad for people who don’t have Maryland Shooters”.

If the compressor isn’t kicking in you may need one of those solid state cold start capacitors.... I replaced one on a refrigerator in a rental property a few years ago for like $25.

I’ll have to pay attention. Thanks.

Just had the same issue with my side by side fridge. Mine had an inverter board attached to the compressor. It was bad. Replaced it and it works now. Check YouTube out.

+1 for youtube. Chances are there is a trouble shooting tutorial for your model fridge. Mine was the same thing that the inverter board died. Amazon to the rescue.

Our GE fridge had been ticking a long time. Finally front controls stopped working and started to not stay cold.

There is a control board that needed to be replaced. Evidently the parts stores sell a lot of them.

Down this way, if you know the part, you can usually get it from Tribles.

Triples in Frederick has been a lifesaver. Still have parts for my 30 year old oven (heating coil).

Yep, we had to replace the board on our GE fridge the week before Thanksgiving last year. Found the part on Amazon, iirc. Didn't take more than a few minutes to swap out and get the fridge working properly again. Very easy to access on the back.

My GE frig stopped cooling today. How did you find out it was the board?

Funny this should pop up again. My fridge died this morning. Luckily we were able to put all the stuff in the downstairs fridge although it is over maxed now. I was hoping this one would last until we moved in two years but that's life. After Christmas I'll run over to Lowe's and get something.
