Just got this in trade a 1941 m38 SA and D marked. All matching no import mark.
Unfortunately someone sanded the stock. Been on a roll lately with Finnish mosins.Sorry for the crappy cell pics.

Congrats! I lucked out on a similar 1941 Finn Capture M38 a few years ago. Luckily mine is all matching and correct Ishevsk parts like yours. It is unfortunate about the stock, I wouldn't worry too much about it though. You now have a rifle that few Finn or other C&R collector's have, or will ever have a chance to own.

I don't own one! I've scoured M38 photos and handled countless examples looking for that elusive box SA to no avail. Congratulations, good find!

I debated getting it, but the rarity of it won me over. I only have $200 in trade into it. The stock sanding isn't to bad but then did wood filler it in a spot. Still looking for a 1943 91/30 and m44.

    From http://www.mosinnagant.net/FinlandArmsOther.asp

Mosin Nagant Model 1938 and 1944 Carbine USSR

    Numbered captured: 2,300-2,600

Also captured in the fighting against the Soviet Union from 1939-1944. The Finns lumped M38 and M44 carbines together in their inventory system so there is no way to know just how many of each were in Finnish hands. It is safe to say that almost all were Model 1938 carbines as few Model 1944 carbines were issued while Finland was still involved in the fighting (Finns left the war in 1944).

I like that the stamps used on the receiver, butt plate, and magazine are the same as the ones used on the bolt.

Definitely not a "Matching Bolt" for commercial sale mix master.

    Good find.
