ChiComs. IBM doled their PC division to them several years ago. Now US gov doesn't want Lenovo's in their facilities. EMC sold a division to the ChiComs several years ago and even though EMC, now Dell, was a partial owner the people in the sold division were not allowed in EMC facilities because of the ChiComs connection.

Used to be an IBM/Lenovo devotee. Switched to Fujitsu in 2009. Finally had to replace it this year with another Fujitsu. In the time I had one Fujitsu my wife went through two Lenovos and one Dell.

So, since no one asked: Can you describe 'what died' on the previous computer? The reason I ask is that my 84 year old FIL called me last week and said that the laptop I gave him died. I honestly forgot that I gave him a laptop. It turned out that the CMOS battery died. $4 and a little bit of soldering and he was back in business.
