I usually stop by RTM when I'm in Philly. I used to have a business up there. Dinics IS wonderful. They're my other Philly sammich treat. I can't help but pick up some cookies from the 4th Street Cookie Company (chocolate dipped chocolate chip cookies, are you kidding me?!), or cannoli from Termino's.

In DC on M St. NW just west of 18th there's a sandwich shop named Bub and Pop's. The owner, Arlene, and her son, Jonathan, are from Philly, and their sandwiches are out of this world! Their roasted pork with broccoli rabe is just as good as, if not better than Dinics.

Arlene lost her other son, USAF Staff Sgt. Peter Taub, in the 2015 suicide bombing at Bagram. They had a touching memorial outside the shop. Six were lost that day. :sad20:

COVID is killing businesses like theirs...including theirs. If you down there, give them a shot. All the food is amazing.

ETA: A great cheesesteak is available at Dalessandros in the Roxborough neighborhood of Philly. One of the best in the city, and not in Center City. It's kind of accessible from KOP, but the Schuylkill Expressway is usually a mess.

This was mediocre show back in 2015. But you could get all the goodies md bans. Oaks is the show to go to if chantilly is 86'd and you can make the trip.

Why I would never buy anything banned in MD.....but if I were a scofflaw it sounds like that would be a place to go....

I completely agree. I grew up in Philly. My father swore by them. Highly recommend.

When your father lived there it was a completely different neighborhood. It is not the same today.

With Grace Kelly's childhood home a bit outside Roxborough, I can imagine what it was like back in the day. A decade ago I had a business on Ridge a few blocks below the high school, and would stay in a backroom apartment Friday night every week. I thought the neighborhood was "eclectic." What's it like today?

Take a look at the crime map for the area, Roxborough, Manayunk, Wissahickon, Mt Airy, Germantown. They are all colored deep blue and dangerous.

Remember, Philly is a WOKE city these days. :mad54:

Maybe I'm "doing" the map incorrectly, but it appears to me that Philly is one single dark blue zone, perhaps because the map is a citywide average, and not granular enough to differentiate between neighborhoods within a single political jurisdiction. I cannot imagine Rox being anything like K&A.

I think DC would likely average out all dark blue as well, but there is a profound difference in crime rates between particular neighborhoods.

Yes, very decent show. I am no sure that it’s good as Gettysburg, but close .
