So I'm recreating the original X95 handguard, the round IDF one because IWI seems to not be bringing it to the US or having any way to get them from Israel.

So I'm making it myself, recreating it in Fusion 360 and 3d printing it.

This really is the ONLY reason I would ever see to own a 3D printer. Prototyping firearms accessories to either use as plastic or subsequently have fabricated from metal.

Now if they ever get those 3D metal sintering machines to a point where I can afford one count me in...

They are coming down in price. Under $10K.

The’ll be showing up soon in smaller maker labs and I would guess that in 5 yrs they will be less than 1/2 the price they are today. I would consider one for work at the $5K price.

This technology will be a game changer when it comes in to common use. If you can model it you can make it. I remember reading an article a while back about two companies. One had done an entire 1911 and another was doing suppressors. They could make the baffles in any sort of complex shape they wanted to since there were no tooling limitations.

Nice job and a good looking print.

Now for a few nerd questions:

    What printer, Filament, Layer height?
    How long did it take?
Are you going to paint it?

I printed a stock adaptor for my bolt action and its holding up quite well.

Its a Prusa Printer. It took about 5.5 hours and i used PLA, its not yet to the final form, still have some adjustments to make it fit.
