It looks like I have acquired another. This one will be a companion to my Colt Combat Commander.

Very nice. I caught the 1911 bug about fifteen years ago and it's something I will just have to live with until I die. It's an interminable disease. BTW, 1911's only come in one caliber, 45ACP. This is merely a fact of life.

Welcome back. No matter what other pistol I have a flirtation with I always go back to a 1911. The feel, the history, the ease of shooting it well. It's just sits in my hand right. While details such as metallurgy and sights have improved with time, at its essence John Browning showed his sheer genius and got it right from the beginning (with input from the Army and Colt).

JMB, Myself and some old G-Men would disagree with you and if you ever shot one in 38 Super then you would know why.

I think what you're getting at is no matter what caliber 1911's been chambered in that the only one that matters in your world is the .45 ACP. It's pretty common knowledge that it's been chambered in numerous calibers over the years. Every 1911 I own is either .45 ACP or 10mm...I hope to have one in .38 Super eventually but being honest it's not high on my list. If the right one comes up at the right price it can rocket up the list quickly.

Very nice. Closest I’ve come is an M57. It’s a shadow, but it is still a pretty nice shadow of a 1911. Another couple of years and I will finally join the 1911 crowd (I’ve shot them several times. Just started owning handguns in the last few months and budget is what it is). 1911s are certainly my favorite.

yerp ... or the Service Model Ace (pre-war) in .22LR

Technically the .38 was a "Super 38" model back in the day, not a "Model 1911" so you could argue the point I suppose.

Wanna go obscure, look for a .38 Special Mid-Range National Match :)

That RIA 2011 Tactical is a nice pistol...
a lot of bang for the buck so to speak.
