I just bought this 308 AR style Pump Action rifle from IP TKDefense/TKAmmo at the HoCo Show. Can't wait to try it out. The reason I got it is because the 308 AR-10 semi-auto does not cycle the subsonic 308 ammo:

I also found this video on YouTube about the 5.56 version of the rifle:
The video shows the collapsible stock, which I do not have.

At first glance it seems like a ridiculous idea. But for the purposes of shooting subsonic I suppose it's a clever idea.

Seems odd that there's no other way to tweak the hardware so that subsonic ammo would cycle the action.

The PARs have been around for a few years. I almost pulled the trigger on one, but they are only suitable for brass cased ammunition. However, using it for subsonic is brilliant.

It's possible but generally not worth the cost and hassle. Requires a custom (skeletonized) BCG, buffer, probably buffer spring, and lots of test firing and follow-up tweaks. The cost could equal or exceed the pump rifle he bought. On a smaller scale, it's much the same process that people go through to get 10-22 rifles to function reliably with subsonic ammo.

I seem to recall these were made (in part) for the PA semi auto hunting ban that was in place until this year. Interested to see what you think of it after you get some trigger time on it.

According to the video that the brake is welded and pinned. Are you planning to use a suppressor on it?

    But... but...

    It's BLACK!

    Racist.

But it does have an evil pistol grip for "sweeping", evil muzzle brake, evil "high capacity" magazine clips, and the thing that goes up.

    :omg:

I think I'd rather use a side charge upper for subsonic, or even just cycling the CH manually is not that big of a deal. Just my opinion, a pump AR is perfect for someone.
