He is a nice buck but the velvet makes him look bigger than he actually is. I would give him another year if you are after a trophy. Shoot a nice doe for the meat.

Now we are talking - I never shot a buck - 1. out of respect for the caretaker who DID like to shoot bucks
2. I wanted young doe meat.
I passed on multiple 12's, and some old thing in a marsh that looked like a water buffalo, the rack was so huge, it was ridiculous,
no chance I would shoot it - because it was likely inedible.
