I have a 10/22 in 22lr and its fun to shoot I also have a marlin 883ss in 22wmr. my question is what's the availability of a 10/22 in 22 wmr i'm thinking it would be fun to build up a 10/22 in wmr.

im ok with rifles that have character! I was kinda thinking that it could be for my wife. she likes shooting the 883 its a bolt action and I was thinking get her into a nice semi auto she would enjoy that more. she just built her first ar15 on her own so I think she would enjoy tricking out a 10/22

She will probably be just as happy with a 10/22 in plain-old .22 LR. The ammo is dirt cheap compared to .22 Mag so can shoot it all day for $. Best thing is she can complement it later with the M&P 15-22.

You might find a used Ruger 10/22 22wmr. They are no longer built new as the excessive recoil(believe it or not) was cracking parts so Ruger stopped making them.

edit: change that might to will find them on gunbroker for $1000

Good to know, I was wondering about that. For me - I would not get a used one esp. for $1,000. I agree with Boom Boom, get a 22 lr if you must go 10/22. O/W, there are several semi-auto 22 WMR's out there for a more reasonable price.

I was thinking about a 17 or 22 rim fire mag and decided a 223/5.56 bolt gun would be just as much fun. But that's just me. A 10/22 in 22 lr on the other hand - I have 2 10/22's and am thinking about getting a third one.

I'm amazed at how the price has dropped....I bought my first box for my heritage convertible and the cheapest I saw it a few months ago was 30+ cents per round...now I'm seeing them for 20 cents and up
