    Just saw this: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog...m=rss&utm_campaign=dagny-dagger-ap-ammunition

Pretty cool concept, love that he is open sourcing the projectiles and loading data. Can't wait to see how the swamp creatures react.

Austin Thomas Jones is an Aerospace Engineer with a less than favorable view of Federal Firearms regulations. It is this attitude that caused Austin to depart from the aerospace industry and enter the firearms industry with the goal of resurrecting armor-piercing ammunition in order to provide equality under the law with regards to armor-piercing ammunition. Austin and Atlas Arms have worked hard to produce what he calls the Dagny Dagger – an unrestricted Armor Piercing ammunition that skirts around the ATF regulations to give “the common” access to reliable AP ammunition...
...Austin has made it clear that he is going to open source the projectile construction and loading data to increase the availably of the round to hand loaders. In addition, he also plans to open a manufacturing branch to commercialize the property and to help develop hardware and software that will be made available to the public so that the construction of the round can be accomplished at home.

Interesting! Looks like a sabot round. Somehow the sabot is retained and acts like a hollow point in soft tissue.

Wonder if that's still the case after passing through armor?

Neat. Also seems like this’ll quickly lead to legislation banning it as well as likely a stiffer crack down on AP ammunition. Especially if it’s Dems in control at the tome, expect it to be overbearing that restricts common ammunition and possibly even calibers.

Sometimes one should push the envelope.

Other times you are poking a stupid tiger standing in its cage.

    I’ve seen similar designs.

And no, a hard surface would strip the soft cup off the sub-caliber penetrator.

Likely tissue would also cause that cup to be torn off and only penetrate just under the skin. Maybe an inch or two. It’s only a few grains with a huge amount of surface area.
