My most recent acquisition is a Special Forces turn-in M1D that was acquired by the CMP in the late 1990's. A small group of these were sold in a lottery by the CMP in 1999-2000. From what I have read, there were 156 of these rifles that were turned in by the US Army, specifically the 19th and 20th Special Forces Groups of the Army National Guard. It is marked "M1D SF" on the Form 1348, the official bill of sale. This was before the CMP issued certificates.

I had the opportunity to choose between this example and another CMP raffle M1D still in the wrap. I picked this one because I can actually shoot it and take it out of the safe without feeling like I am jeopardizing an investment. The rifle itself has paint on the rear sight, likely making a shooter's zero, as well a glass bedded stock which I thought was interesting. Enjoy.
