” incentivize responsible gun ownership,” through a mandate requiring a would-be gun owner to show proof of insurance before they could purchase a firearm.

I swear I'm not stupid but how does it incentivize responsible gun ownership.
I wonder what insurance company lobby groups payed to get this on paper for the benefit of the insurance companies.

Must we literally insure everything. I bought a 20 dollar beach chair from baby's r us for my kid and the lady at the register asked if I wanted to buy insurance for it. I said no thank you. She replied telling me that insurance for the infant beach chair was only 4 dollars. I let her know that I'll just save the money from my next few purchases and self insure.

Why do people now a days feel the need to insure everything.

It does the opposite. We all know people who are less worried about locking their house or how they drive because, you know, "It's OK - I've got insurance."

This is just an attempt to squash gun ownership, in the same way that "blog insurance" would be an attempt to muzzle free speech.

This is what the left has been trying to push for years. Im sure just like banks the majority of insurance companies are anti gun and wont offer such insurance. If they can pass a law mandating you have insurance that nobody will provide or is priced so high most cant afford then they got us by the balls.

The so called Democratic Party (Communist/Socialist/Progressive Party) Shumer, Pelosi, Clinton, Fienstien, Harris etc. Like I've said for years internal domestic enemies of the Constitution of the United States of America and the country of the United States of America. They will never stop what they are doing.

They're only doing this so they can show their far left base that they're "doing something".

None of this crap will make it to the floor of the Senate.

Yeah, I used to think that. The last couple of years have proven that they really are trying to get away with everything that they can and continually move the goal posts. And not just with gun control, pretty much every aspect of the socialist / progressive agenda.

They can't be bargained with. They can't be reasoned with. They will not stop....EVER...until we are DEAD! (Terminator quote applies :))

This is another example of (proposed) gun laws not only stepping all over peoples rights, but also placing an unfair burden/disadvantage based upon socioeconomic status.
Permits, licenses, insurance, all cost money that many people do not have.

If firearms rights were like some of the other "rights" the left wants to support (e.g. healthcare), then the government would be handing out free guns and ammo like condoms at a school.

well, you gotta get the insurance. btw, no one is offering this insurance because the .gov is putting them out of bidness. guess you can't buy that gun.

see, the logic is undeniable. :sarcasm:

    Thin edge of the wedge.

Once you're insured, they'll mandate upping the amount of insurance you're forced to carry until you can't afford it. Also, the records of the Ins Co will make a dandy way to retrieve all those nasty guns; only need a subpoena from an Obama judge.

Eventually all legal gun owners will have to carry sufficient insurance to pay for damage done by criminals. Once this is in place, judges and juries will pile on the damages rewards, because, you know, there's plenty of insurance money to be had.

You will be priced out of your right, while carrying the tab for the criminal classes. Neat, huh?

The only problem with this theory is when they keep re-electing these leftists, before long, they actually "do something", and these laws actually do show up on the books. I believe it's how we got to where we are.

Didn't even think of that. Like license plates.
When guns are insured and you have a lapse you get fined by the state until you turn in the gun or re-insure. More fees to collect.
The tax money to be generated by the profits from insurance plus court fees etc for anyone not in compliance, plus any arrests made for those lawbreakers etc...I could go on. It seems like its another way to tax you.

How much is each dollar taxed?
income, sales, property, mandatory insurance, etc.

Give an inch they take a mile, until there's nothing more to take.

Eventually western Europe wont be western Europe, it'll be central Europe and we will be western Europe.

Bill Would Require Lawmakers To Pass Test Before Pushing Gun Laws
    http://www.azws.us/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1760
...State Sen. Phil Fortunato, R-Auburn, has introduced legislation in advance of the 2019 legislative session that would require lawmakers who draft gun legislation to be trained and pass a test.

“We have legislators drafting bills who have no idea how firearms work or any sense of firearm nomenclature,” Fortunato said. “When decision makers want to restrict someone’s constitutional rights, they shouldn’t go off half-cocked...”

    WE NEED THIS HERE!

A psych eval would also be helpful.

Incentivize responsible politicians. Make them sign a contract that states they SHALL be electrocuted if they ever consider or pass unconstitutional legislation.

The Enemy Within: From D.C. to Your Doorstep

saw it posted earlier today, did not watch yet. Going to get a few chores done and listen to it on earbuds. Without any visuals (due to my listening with no watching), I'm just going to imagine him giving DC the finger for the entirety of the youtube video.
