That trigger shaped piece goes inside the trigger guard shaped hole.

Put all of those parts in a box, and take it to the gunsmith. Tell him you think that all of the parts are there from when you disassembled it a few years back. And that yep, after thinking about it for awhile, you're pretty sure they're all from the same gun.

Send it out to be refinished and they'll put it back together for ya as part of that job.

Refinish? blasphemy!! It has a nice patina to it! Believe it or not, it went back together easier than it came apart. And it works......I think. HAHA!

LOL That's what's known as "firearm alchemy". It takes a LOT of practice and magic but it is possible. In this case, I ended up making not two but THREE functioning Deutsches Polizei Pistolen out of just ONE:
