I haven't had much time to go to the range, so handgun has had frog lube on from 1+ years ago. Would it be a good idea to clean and re-lube before going to the range?

Hopefully, I wont get bashed for this question (apparently after I got answers on my first post years ago (didn't need to sign back on) members started thinking I was a plant or something--> just a noob st the time).

Isn't it plant based and has a tendency to go rancid? Doesn't that form acids?

I use Eezox as a solvent as well as a rust-preventive. It supposedly leaves a thin film of anti-rust coating as it evaporates. For safe queens a coating of Renaissance Wax goes on top of the Eezox.

I saw an amateur documentary online several years ago where a guy had a large number of steel plates that were treated with a large variety of rust inhibitors, and subjected to, yes, a large variety of corrosion sources. Eezox was one of the best, and it's been my go-to ever since.

Eezox of CLP. Eezox is essentially trichlor which I wouldnt want to handle every day but short term exposure with gloves and good ventilation is probably ok (not medical professional).

Only guns I use other stuff on are things with delicate finishes which I will tend to use Hoppes oil or Ballistol. Both reapplied frequently and guns are in very climate controlled environment.

    THIS

who cares if it functions well during practice? It's practice for a reason. Test it out and report back. Then we will all know more about how it will hold up.

Breakfree produces "LP" and "Collectors LP", both are of low volatility and cling/cover/protect in long term storage. This is because the "C" (Cleaner) substance which is solvent based and more volatile is not in the mixture. There are other similar products, some, like RIG, for extreme long term protection. I personally, have had excellent long term performance using the Breakfree products.

I have used both Ballistol and Eesox on my guns, which go a year in storage while I am overseas.

    Both turned out OK.
