Not even NY went so far as to enforce one this low, they knew it would get shot down. I think that they tried 7 after Sandy Hook. This outlaws most pistols and revolvers.

The 2nd circuit knocked that one down. And the 2nd circuit may be even more liberal than the 9th.

If the 9CA confirms the 5 round limit, it sets up a circuit split. What's SCOTUS to say on round limits? I do not trust Roberts at all.

I am waiting for someone to try and ban pinned or blocked magazines as they could, conceivably be converted back. What guns would that leave available?

Single shot Derringers that would be banned because they are too concealable

"The year is 2042. The democrats are calling former conservative Joe Biden insane for thinking anyone would need 2 barrels for a shotgun when 1 is plenty. House democrats have introduced a bill limiting capacity to single shot guns, because no one needs more than one round. They've also introduced a 500% ammo tax, with the tax going to fund school heaters going into the new ice age. New RF gun owner ID chips are being required to be implanted by 2044 in all those that wish to own a firearm, BB gun, airsoft, slingshot, or Nerf. President Beiber has announced his support for the Gun Owner Identification Tax Enforcement Regulations legislation. "All gun owners need to be identifed instantly by Skynet, and their threat level assessed. Also to make sure their gun registration, licensing, and insurance is up to date", he stated. Paranoid gun owners have voiced concerns over not being "armed enough", after isolated incidents of Skynet equipment and drones attacking people. Gun safety advocates say it is unlikely a civilian with a single shot assault shotgun would be able to combat a well organized entity such as Skynet, saying " Resistance is futile."

I think they should just outlaw magazines.

I hope they do. It's where they are headed and at least if they outlawed magazines you would not have so many people who comply. When they do it round by round you have compliance through time.

2 generations from now will consider a 10 round reduced capacity mag standard the way things are going.

Only if everyone is on the same page can results occur. If it were reduced, there would be many who would comply. Then those with standard mags would be reduced. Then they come up with another law and some of the people who had the standard mag would comply with the new law until you become such a minority and the herd of sheep is so trained that it will be easy to simply arrest the few criminals with their illegal weapons.

It's a slow mindset change brought on little by little.
Incremental change is the best way for them to do it and they know that.

When seatbelt laws came around people did not like it, so it was a secondary offence, you would not get pulled over for not having a seat belt, but if you were pulled over for speeding and did not have the seat belt you would get a ticket. This was to get people used to seat belts and tickets. Then seat belts became a primary offense and you could get pulled over for them. But there was no resistance by this time as people had been trained.
