So I just got this old shotgun. it looks to be in good overall shape. The lockup however is tight, and the triggers are heavy. The first trigger does not always release. I took the gun apart and oiled it. Everything looks good, but the two pins that pop out of the receiver group and contact the barrels are tight.

The gun is made by Crescent Firearms in the late 1800's?. it has German made barrels. I know it is not valuable, but condition is pretty good. I was wondering what I could do to loosen up the locking action and firing mechanisms (particularly the right hand barrel).

    Nice!

Chances are someone here will be able to answer your questions (not sure I can) but, either way, here is a link to a sometimes treasure trove of shotgun related info: ShOtgun Gunsmithing & Restoration: https://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewforum.php?f=12&sid=2074073bb5316e908ff1d4c17836b8aa

I do have one question: how is that the opening lever returns to “center” with the action open? I own a lot of sxs (and o/u’s) and, what I don’t know exceeds what I do but, I am hard pressed to think of any break action guns I’ve ever handled where it is easy or “normal” to get the lever to not stay to the right (in the “open” position) when the action is broken open .... interesting. ....

It is always good to look at something with someone else' eyes. I do not know. Maybe the is the issue. time for more research. Some else asked if I was sure it was a crescent gun as he does'nt recall any crescent guns with Krupp-Essen steel barrels.

Here are pictures of the 10 gauge. it has 32 inch barrels. They need to be cleaned but appear ok. These pictures are not as good as I hoped. Cocking the hammers takes a bit of finger strenght.
