At that price you could step up to the Burris MTAC 1.5-6x (about $370 on the street) which has a 40-42mm objective. No 24mm objective no matter the cost can makeup for the light gathering power of a 40mm objective. And it is still 1 oz lighter than the Burris MTAC 1-4x24. According to most of the big name scope makers a real one to one on the eye is actually a 1.1x scope not a 1.0x. I looked thru a lot of scopes before picking the Burris MTACs for 3-gun (really wanted a Vortex Razor HD II 1-6x24 but when it came time to buy a scope I no longer had the $1300 I needed for the Vortex). Yes the Burris reticle is busy but I find I can shoot it really fast in 3-gun and it is especially good on the long range shots. The 1.5-6x I had to get used to the magnification at the low end but it didn't take that long for me anyway. Also the reticle was 50% bigger which was actually a bonus over the 1-4x. Reticles are a very personal thing. Either you like them or you don't so don't get wedded to a particular scope or even brand until you can try it out some. Look thru a lot of them and try to imagine how it will work for you.

It came today. Bonus, it's already installed in the mount. I should be able to just install this and zero it. The scope and mount weigh only 1lb.

Once I finish the rifle it's going on.

Very nice! A word of caution, the rings aren't tightened down sufficiently and the reticle hasn't been properly adjusted for level. My guess is that it was easier to package as a unit...ymmv

Thanks for the words of caution. I'll make sure it's correct.

Thank you again for letting me know about the great deal from PSA

my buddy went with this, and I went with a bushnell throwdown BDL

The Leupold is clearer glass- it's like an HD TV, but the 1.5x is kind of a pain in the ass

I also like the reticle on the throwdown better.

As for ruggedness, Leupold makes durable stuff, but after crapping my pants when my GF dropped my rifle off the bench STRAIGHT ONTO THE SCOPE, I was pleased to find that other than some scratches on the finish the scope held zero and was completely fine.

    The Leupold is lighter though.

The only thing I don't like about the bushnell is that the turrets are not lockable, so I guess it's possible your gear could change the turret setting= in point of fact, though, the detents for each click are so stiff that I doubt you would accidentally be able to turn the knob from zero.
