You want a Kifaru.
Made in Colorado and bomb proof. I have two I use for hunting. One is set up for carrying my stand and the other is for backpack hunting trips out west.

I’ve never used one but agree Mystery Ranch seems quality. They do make a number of packs overseas but also have US made stuff.

Some other companies worth looking at that are all US made are Stone Glacier, Hill People Gear and Exo Mountain Gear.

Those look nice. I have a few Deuter packs, but they are made in Germany.

Whatever you choose, I would definitely make sure it has a good internal frame and suspension system. They are not all created equal. I tried a bunch of brands at REI before settling on the Deuter system. I haven't tried military style packs, but I'd think a black or tan backpacking pack might be worth exploring.

I’ve had mystery ranch and Eberlestock. Eberlestock is more comfortable to me. I have heard good things about the USMC ILBE. For surplus, it’s probably your best bet. All things considered, packs are suited to an individuals taste. Preference is based on how YOU feel a pack carrys. For me, Eberlestock is worth the price.

Is this to get you to a specific destination or so you can give a bunch of stuff to an adversary? Big bag will draw a lot of attention. This area is to congested to bug out long term without running into people, some of which will want your stuff. You can’t carry everything you will need. Cover the basic 10 c’s and add food and then add some more. I use to think about the mountain man style, but more of an Alamo type now.

Eberlestock was worth the price when they were US made.

They outsourced to Asia but prices stayed the same.
