Added a light weight to the herd, S&W 637 38 spl +P, comes in under 15 oz unloaded and not much larger then a box of 50 rounds or the palm of my hand. Add some hollow points and it will get the job done.

I've got a 642 Airweight, just like that but hammerless. I really like it. It's my truck gun. I keep it hidden away but easily reachable on a magnet mount. It's in a place that crackheads wouldn't find if they break in looking for change to fund their next hit, but is easy to reach and draw. The small size makes it very quick and easy to move from hiding to the driver window without worrying about it getting caught up in the steering wheel. It's also my backup carry gun in case I'm not carrying for some reason and decide that I should carry in a specific location. I keep a galco IWB holster for it in the glove box. It's easy and discrete to slip in my belt or coat pocket and go.

One of my favorite revolvers. This is a fully functional replica of a LeMat cavalry model civil war pistol made by Pietta.

Note the nine shot .44 caliber cylinder and a 20 gauge black powder shotgun in the center. The hammer has a spur that can be turned down to strike the center percussion cap.

Sorry about the bad cell phone pictures.

Ah the Lemat. What a pistol. I'd like to see a replica in a center fire cartridge like .38 or something that preserved the full scale and feel without the black powder. Course then again how would you make the shotgun barrel work if you did that.

Two recent pickups...a new 2020 Python and a Colt New Service 1917...

Here's the family photo of the new Python with two older examples I've had for a few decades...

Here's the 1917...made in 1919 post WWI so that can explain its beautiful condition...

:secret: if you ever wondered what that 1917 would look like naked (without all that blueing), I bet it would be something like this:

    colt1917.JPG

...probably best to keep the finish on yours though :o

Lack of finish doesn't make yours any less useful. It gives the "Been There, Done That" aura to it.

You are too kind :o I do really like "honest patina," and that's what mine looks like from afar. Closer scrutiny suggests that it went through being blued (originally), rusty (pittingincluded), and sanding :rolleye12 to get to where it is today. I don't see any evidence of it being parkerized...so that's something, right :innocent0

I bought it to shoot. It still locks up tight and the sandpaper in its history is what made it affordable to me  I'm happy...although I do wish the sander had been just a little less heavy handed...especially around the markings.

Now I just need a rusty Python to get "cleaned up" down to my price range :D

I saw one in the HBO series Westworld.

The episode "Chestnut" has some fantastic scenes of Ed Harris and his LeMatt. Please forgive the poor pictures but I just had to share.

Looks like the LeMatt used in the series is one converted to ,38 Short Colt. I absolutely love it!

I also found the holster that they used at this web site. http://www.westernleatherholster.com...ther-holsters/ (CH-75)

I wrote to Kirst Konverter LLC to see if they could convert a LeMat pistol to fire cartridges. I asked them if they could do a conversion with a swing gate loader like their Colt walker conversion. Also, in my defense, I never mentioned the center shotgun. I assumed that would have to stay black powder. This what they said...

    Hi,

    We can convert LeMatt revolvers.

The LeMatt is not an easy gun to convert. Each one is unique...no two the same! So each converter must be hand fitted to the revolver. This also means that we cannot finish the machining of the converter until we fit it to the revolver.

Also due to the design of the bolt in the Lematt a gated conversion is not possible and it is illegal to convert the shotgun barrel.

    So having said that......
The cost of the conversion parts is $800.
The cost of installation is $2000.
Turn around time is approximately 3 years.
We would need a $1000 and the revolver to reserve a place in line.

If you have any questions please let me know
