I've had a Jones on for early examples of US hunting rifles. The Savage 1920, Winchester 54 (would love one of these in .22 Hornet) or a Newton .256. The Winnie 54 in .22 Hornet and the Newton are both bringing good money for a nice example. The last Newton I saw sold at Redding last year for $1700. It was a very nice example built in Buffalo NY with a Lyman target sight. Hell, even plain Jane Winchester 43s in .22 Hornet routinely sell for $1K or more.

I have been altering my 30-06 hunting load for this gun but here is where I’m at with 100yards
At least 1/2-1” of this is me with the lower power scope and no rear bag.
I’m going to see at 200 to look at bullet drop.
I want to leave this load and the scope settings for hunting next year

Those were 150gr Sierra Game King Flat Base Soft point.
I'm so low on those that if you recommended something else, I could switch to work up a load of something else and save those for my 308.

I literally look at this post a day or two ago after I commented a while back and go, "*sigh*, I really hope I can find one of these soon in the future." Walk into my gun shop after hitting the bullion dealer to talk to my friend who works there, and boom this gun was sitting on the shelf for $325. I am thinking huh, pretty old looking and ask my friend to verify if it is C&R, and he does and I immediately ask for the 4473 to buy it. Payed for it and walked out with it shortly afterwards! Glad to finally have a C&R bolt action hunting rifle and also a Savage Model 110 to boot!

C&R Tactical nice vintage 110 there. Sounds like it was meant to happen. I have the 110L (L/H) in .308 Win. Bought mine in the mid 1980's for $300 with a vintage Weaver 3-9. I only hunt with it if there is no rain or snow up in the mountains. I handload for it. I was at the Redding Gun Auction just above Gettysburg last Sunday 4/25. They had a 110L in .30-06 there no scope only with Weaver mounts in pristine shape it went for $575. Lefties were first made in 1959. You got a very good buy. Now you just need a nice vintage Weaver or Redfield. Good luck with it.
