I'm about to squad for the MD Championship coming up in May. It's my first tier 2 match. Is it better to squad to people who are in my class (SS) or people I've shot with in the past who happen to be awesome?

Basically, do I shoot with guys I've met once or twice and who will own me all day long, or guys who aren't as good so I feel better about my crappy shooting?

I like to shoot with guys that are better than I am, tends to make me want to push to get better. YMMV

I agree. While I'm new to competitive shooting, in all other sports this path led me to rise up to their level.

Lots of knowledge can be gained for squadding with people above your classification.
