Any hardcore USGI 1911 enthusiasts out there?

I found someone on another forum who has a nice old Ithaca 1911A1 that he might let go. It's got some rust as it's been stored in the original leather holster for the past 60+ years. i'm thinking $800-1000 would be a fair price. Any suggestions?

That is a good price depending on how good the condition. Just make sure it is not a mixed bag of parts. I have seen a Ithaca 1911a1 that is supposedly a collector item but has RIA stamp on the barrel

I want one in VG to XLNT condition marked "U.S. NAVY" for $750-$800. I also want world peace and an end to hunger. Wish in one hand... :rolleyes:

yep, I'd like one stamped "U.S. Navy" on the slide for $750, too. But most likely won't happen. I do have a slide stamped U.S. Navy, though it was machine long ago for the Micro adjustable sights. 'Twas probably part of a match pistol somewhere in its life.

Sounds like a fair price, just make sure the rust is surface and not pitting so you can rub it off without killing the patina.
