I found another under the same tree. If I want to eat later, like the weekend what is the best way to store it? Wet paper towel for moisture?

Look for old-growth areas with elms, tulip poplars, sycamores or apple trees.

Tulip poplars are all over howard county in wooded parks. Look at your shoes when you search, and allow your peripheral vision to do the work. Morels blend in so well in leaf debris.

The trees are your best clue. I have found a good amount so far, but my prime spot has nothing yet. I think this weekend it will flush, so I will be in the woods for a while.

Went for a walk up the driveway with my wife and eldest daughter. I was looking for them but I guess the old eyes ain’t what they used to be. Anyway they spotted them when I walked right passed them. Our driveway is about 1/4 mile long back through the woods.

Cultivate that area better. Put those morels in a blender with fresh wood ash, rice flour, distilled water, then put an airstone in a bucket and aerate the mix for a day. Put woodchips down all around, and throw that mash all around that area.

Mycileum will grow and establish, and you will have more morels in a few years. Every April scatter fresh wood ash on the area before it rains.

You will have a great patch that way.

I went out on Friday and covered some ground but only for about an hour. Found two small ones. April 24-27 is normally when I start searching. Have not had a lot of time.
