I am new to the world of the AK.

Took my PAP m92 SBR out to the range for the first time today.
I was using Wolf Classic and Red tiger steel cased ammo and after every single shot the top cover would pop open. The cases would eject properly. There is no sign of primer damage or damage to the cases.

I have a booster on the muzzle and am wondering if this is a problem with over pressure? The top cover does not pop open if I cycle the bolt by hand.

    Thanks

Is the Booster pinned? If its not, and its legal to do so remove it and retest.

AK's tend to be generously gassed. Lots of companies add boosters to gain OAL but dont take into consideration about how it effects function.

AK's do throw gas back like an overgassed AR. This can cause the top cover to pop off.

Several things can minimize this, but may not fix the problem.

-New Recoil Spring (ALG makes a new spring to help eliminate spring oscillation)
-Port the Gas Tube to vent excess gas. I had to do this to my Draco to keep the top cover from popping off when a suppressor was attached.
-Have a GOOD Gunsmith Drill the Gas Block/FSB to add a Gas Adjuster Screw. I did this to my Draco to slow things down when a suppressor is attached. Bolt speed is MUCH faster with a Suppressor.

    Thanks Chad,
Next time I get to go to the range I will try without the booster.
If that doesn't work, will order the spring.
