Initial permit expires at ~ 2 years but less than 3.

Depending on when your birthday is and when you get the permit.
Basically, you will have your permit for 2 birthdays, it will expire on the last day of the month.

The initial Handgun Permit expires on the last day of the holder’s birth month following two (2) years after the date the permit is issued.

Took me a minute to figure that one out because mine was 2.5 years. I'd have applied right after my birthday if I planned it right!

The birth date is exactly how I planned my application. Applied 9 weeks before my birthday.

Don't forget to get a letter of good standing with the agency. It should be on letterhead and say that you are so and so with such and such and you have no pending or unresolved disciplinary actions.

Almost 3 full years on my first one... Five years on my Pa...

Renewal of the Pa. came with the notification that the Pa. permit is contingent upon the Md. permit. If the Md. permit expires... the Pa. permit is voided.

I got 28 months on my initial permit. Received end May 2012 and expired end of birth month- September 2014.

I didn't receive my renewal until October 12, 2014 so technically I get shorted almost 2 weeks on this one.

Did York Co ask if you either did business or had a relative living in York Co? There was some new requirement on the books I thought. Chris
Some counties have chosen not to issue to non residents in most situations (they may ask for the crap you specified above). This does not apply to York or Adams (or many other counties). As long as you have a home state permit you are good to go. Adams and York seem to be the most popular counties for those of us who can acquire them.
