Took my almost 70 year old mom to the range today. She never fired a handgun before and shot great. Started with a Ruger mkII and moved on to a Glock 17 9mm, then tried a dedicated .22 AR15. It was a great experience for both of us. Good thing she lives in Florida where she can pursue the sport without all the BS here. Gonna try to get my dad to the range for the first time tomorrow. Don't really know what inspired them to finally take interest in a sport I've been involved in my whole life, but I won't miss an opportunity to share the experience. 
Mom's can be bad asses.
