I saw a auction on gunbroker the other day for a unfired norinco that was up to 550 with like 15 bids!
Are these things really worth that now?

My father and I bought 6 of them in the mid 90s for around 90 bucks a piece I think. He even got a neat paratrooper version with a scope and shorter barrel.

Wish I would of bought 20 of them. The guy we bought them from had crates of them and mosins.

It's a combination of those who collect but I suspect it's primarily to due fear of civil unrest and want a defensive firearm that's reliable, a caliber widely available, doesn't look like an evil "assault rifle" and available. During such fear-driven times established market values go out the window and people simply want something. I think many paying these prices aren't what we would normally call "gun people" who under normal circumstances would already have such defensive firearms.

It reminds me of what Warren Buffett said his financial strategy was for becoming wealthy..."Buy when everyone else is selling and sell when everyone else is buying."

I handled a Paratrooper model at the old Maryland Quartermaster. Another guy bought it the minute I handed it back.

I feel like those were going for around $500 even before the Covid and “defund the police” panics.

The prices have risen a lot but if I had a time machine I’d by buying Apple stock, not SKSs.

SKS's have gotten popular in ban states since they're fixed magazine, semi auto, and in a cheap to shoot caliber.

SKS prices are going up quite a bit. Not surprising to see a nice Norinco go upwards of $500.

I have a Russian a may let go if you are interested in one of those.

Pretty sure that's banned in MD, but maybe its a sub model that doesn't fall under the ban of an SKS that can take detachable mags. So feel better, if you live in MD, you would not have been able to buy it.
