Bayonet Info. Assistance request

Friends-going though some family items and found the below bayonet. Anyone have any information on it as I have no idea of these things. I did find some markings and would appreciate any additional or an informative website (outside of our great forum!)..As to the script on top of the blade I think it MG #$%$%$%# de Galle September 1883. I am unsure of the first part...old eyes I guess..

Info on the Scabbard: P20281 and has an 2 on the ball at the bottom and an M.

Blade: Has a 3 stamped into it. The number: 35989 and is 25 1/4" long.

Coopdog, sorry for the delayed response. About 10 years ago I took a rainy Saturday afternoon and researched all of my grandfathers and great grandfathers bring back bayonets. One of which is the French Model 1874 Gras sword bayonet.

As of 10 years ago they were selling for about $150. The link below should give you quite a bit of information on your bayonet
