My father in law gave me an old single shot Winchester 37A 410 gauge shotgun as a project gun for my son. It needs a forearm spacer (which I found at Brownells) and some TLC. What is the best way to remove the rust and get this thing up to speed?

Remlube and 0000 steel wool for starters. For the inside of the barrel use an old cleaning rod and a drill. Put a brass bore brush on it with a lube and go to town.

OOOO steel wool and oil as tdt91 said . Let the oil soak for a lil bit then rub it out with the steel wool .

I picked up some new rust remover at Grainger the other day ill try it out on something tomorrow and see how it works . If its any good and doesn't hurt the bluing ill get it to you .
