This followed me home from Chantilly. Was hoping my favorite Chantilly vendor had something I liked at an affordable price and I was not disappointed. Everything appears to be matching except the magazine which I believe is very typical. I purchased an after market magazine for the few times I will shoot it.

Mine is a 1916 DWM also and was made 7700 guns before yours! I was lucky enough to get a matching mag and a holster! I take mine out about once a year or so to shoot it. I love it!

cool. Vendor mentioned I should look for 124gr Federal ammo. What ammo did you use? I reload so I often make up a pet formula stepping up the charge until I get reliable ejection and last round hold back shooting 1 in the mag at a time. I did the same for my German P38

I usually use El Cheapo Rem or Win 115 grain. Usually only put 20-30 rounds through it, just enough so that I can experience the mechanical genius and workmanship that went into them!

Outstanding find! Not easily found with the straw finish intact.
Save yourself the torment and go with a German built mag. Something from WW2 would work nicely. In my experience aftermarket mags are built with weaker feed lips and always deform under the strong spring, causing feed problems. That's what I use in my WWI vintage P08 and it functions well with the right ammo (took me a while to work out a pet load for it, very ammo sensitive). I'd bet the original wood bottomed mag functions just fine.

    Beautiful!

Not to derail your thread, but I am looking for someone to help me purchase a reasonable shooter grade P08. I have no idea what to avoid.

Thx all, I should have commented that he had a number of affordable P38 Walthers also.

Took it to the range today and shot off 4 magazines with my regular 115gr FMJ reloads and it was flawless. Trigger is light and crisp too. Shot better than I expected.
Used an after market magazine. Hope to meet my son at the range this week so he can shoot it between classes.
