well, I done ****ed up. Assembled my brand new 6.8 with the ejector facing the wrong side of the receiver. I've now got a shell casing stuck to the bolt face and it's not coming off. I tried to pull it out before I realized the malfunction and the neck of the casing is now all screwed up. I can't get the bolt into battery enough to remove the upper, even when both receiver pins removed and the lower pulled to the rear as far as it will go. BCG won't clear the lower. I fear I've done more damage to the headspacing or rifling in the barrel trying to ram it back into battery. so what do I do next? Anything else I can try before bringing it in somewhere?

tried everything I could to get bolt in battery. hitting on forward assist, releasing charging handle with casing lined up in action as much as possible and then knock on forward assist, ect. at this point, I don't care if the ejector is ****ed, I just don't want to screw up the barrel. Tried to fold the neck of the casing in so it would go into battery, and the more I mess with it, the worse I'm making it. At this point, unless someone has some advice, I may just be looking for the best person I could take it to in Westminster / Baltimore area :(

Easier then pulling the barrel. Take the receiver extension off. So, butt stock, receiver extension, spring an buffer an the BCG should follow.

The BCG won't come back any farther than when you regularly pull the charging handle. The gas key stops it.

naturally, the barrel and upper fit is TIGHT. since I can't smack it with a dowel through the receiver, what next? Am I gonna have to break out a propane torch? REALLY don't want to resort to that.

I think what they are suggesting, is actually removing the barrel from the receiver...that's what I'm thinking too...it sounds like a big deal but it isn't really. PM me and well see if we can get it done.

heat gun did the trick. this is also a million times more difficult because I don't access to my vise, and if I did, my vise block requires the receivers to be separated. anyway, I guess the hard part is done. casing popper right off once the bcg slid far enough forward. I guess tomorrow I need to get some grease and an adapter for my torque wrench so I can get it back together. Anyone in Westminster / Baltimore wanna help a guy out? lol

don't know how this barrel was seated, but what can best be described as plastic flakes came out as I pulled the barrel out and left a sticker-like residue on the barrel extension. This came from a performance shop, so I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say whatever they did was better than just plain grease?

thanks for all the help / advice all. Only my second time stripping an AR down this far, and the first time I had to throw in the towel and have Chad assemble it for me :(

once I got the locktite cleaned off, the barrel and receiver fit together easily. My first build, the fit was impossibly tight and that's why I took it to chad. I'm sure he just used some very fine sandpaper on the receiver, but live and learn. He also had to drill the gas port, so my inexperience payed off b/c I could have ended up with multiple other issues down the road! I'm hoping I can get this back together myself using locktite, but I need a vise and bigger adapter for my torque wrench. trip to the depot is in order I guess. can't **** it up any worse than I already have lol

that would be too easy! I've got an armorers wrench, but this has a different nut (see SLR nut below). I used channel locks to get it off (a no no I know), but I don't have anything that will fit it and my wrench. thank you very much for the offer though, and otherwise I would definitely take you up on it.
