“One ping only…”, is that a subtle reference to “The Hunt for Red October”? That is one of the more accurate submarine movies out there. When it comes to the military Hollywood is just ridiculously inaccurate. “Das Boot” (The Boat) is the most accurate I am aware of. It was very popular from some reason with the crew I worked with.
Why yes...you are spot on. A nod to one of my favorite novelists, Tom Clancy-- and a great story well told. Das Boot-- respect for the folks who can do that job and in that environment. and yeah---Hollywood pretty much sucks at military stuff unless they are actually trying to get it right... Band of Brothers comes to mind and others in that style. Definitely need to consider getting the Frederick County MDS crew to a meet and greet sometime soon.
