I finally gave in and bought a Rick Hinderer XM-18 gen4 Spanto/S35VN/Black-Blue fade G10...if you have a ZT folder in the 05xx lineup, this is the knife that gave spawn to Hinderer's collaboration with Zero Tolerance. I've wanted one for years but I couldn't bring myself to shell out $800 for a knife with a $450 MSRP...got lucky earlier this week and I didn't have to! I love my RH ZTs and my Chris Reeves but the XM-18 is simply beyond description...I've never owned or handled a knife that was THIS overbuilt.

Got a Benchmade 941 LE ti the same day, too...so it was a pretty good day. :)

And got a custom CF grip for my 0550 plus a bunch of custom lanyard beads in anodized ti the other day...add on the iPhone 5s and custom titanium/g10 case yesterday and so I suppose it's been a pretty good week...

The two predominate blades I carry on the truck a fixed blade M tech ( Kbar wanna be) and a Kershaw (at least that's what's on the blade) G+G hawk design bought at the Frederick Walmart for 12 bucks. Have used the folder every day and still haven't sharpened it cause it's still as sharp as the day I got it

After two years of waiting, the venerable Zero Tolerance ZT0777M390. Bohler M390 version. This is hands-down ZT's finest knife to date.

    Wow! Just beautiful!

I'm still waiting on the overdue ZT566 to hopefully be the perfect EDC for me.

Thanks! I tried to get the damascus version, but they are fetching as much as 3 grand now!!!

I am looking forward to the 0566 as well as my 0550 is a little to large. I carry a 3.5 inch Hinderer XM-18 which is the parent knife to the ZT Hinderer lineup, but it's significantly more compact and lighter than the 0550 despite having a longer blade, and so it carries a lot better and is a lot more practical. The 0566 FINALLY introduces a ZT that is compact and closer to the RH XM-18 than the Hinderer-ZT collabs currently on the market...I was one of the gazillion knife nuts who wrote to KAI asking they make smaller knives (in which the 3 and 3.5 inch Rick Hinderer XM-18 was the one everyone implied...so I am very excited for its release!)

If ZT ever brings it to market, people are going to go nuts over it. Rick Hinderer 3 inch and 3.5 inch XM-18s generally sell within a few minutes of being uploaded to a forum, and often at prices that are twice the retail because they are in such high demand! When the 0566 comes out, it would not surprise me if for the first few months that they will be selling for 3-4+ times the MSRP and people will buy them regardless because they are crazy!

Had the last one I posted for 8 years and recently lost it :(

Had to replace it today on the way back from a wedding stopped in cabelas and they had the exact model I wanted so a few bucks later here is my new work tool.

I don't own any of their blades yet but have been eyeballing their AR15/M16 bayonet something fierce.

    BUY IT!

It is a BAD ASS knife! You will absolutely love it and it can do anything and everything you need to do with a fixed blade.

The ZT-9 is as fine a knife as you get, IMHO. The fit and finish is so good it approaches custom knives, the handle material grips like glue, the steel is outstanding S30V with a great heat treat to max out that exceptional strength and rust resistance, the blade itself is 1/4 inch thick making it capable of performing HEAVY work, the serrations are surprisingly useful despite them being on a fixed blade and being small, the grind of the blade/edge geometry gives it good performance with finesse slicing in addition to hard tasks, the tip is exceptionally strong given this is a defensive folder that needs a spear point, the sheath is top-notch (provided you like Kydex), the knife is incredibly well balanced for its weight, and it's easy to maintain. And oh yeah...it looks absolute awesome and online pics do not do it justice.

Most bayonets aren't great performers for heavier outdoor tasks. The ZT-9 is capable of handling tasks that most 'survival' fixed blades would fall apart from...so it runs circles backwards, drunk, with eyes closed while peeing in terms of versus most bayonets. It is more than capable of intense and frequent batoning...it may be the only production bayonet that one could do this with and not harm the knife.

It's an exceptional piece and just like their ridiculously awesome ZT-0100 in CPM-3V 'super-super' steel, they did their homework, they got a lot of feedback, and they really have raised the bar.

If you do get one, I'd highly advise checking out a used model or a blem from Kershaw Guy...he sometimes has over 50% mark downs on blems versus new retail (http://kershawguy.com/products-page/zt-blems/). The ZT-9 is like a H&K USP...it is so well-build that buying a used one is more-or-less saving a few bucks, possibly getting a knife with a few marks, but also getting a knife which is functionally flawless and a lot less expensive...and with what this knife can do, cosmetic marks are inevitable. This knife is just so hardcore...one of my favorites.
