-Wasn't looking for another DSM34 .22RF trainer but fell into this one while scouting a Colt Woodsman and couldn't say no. Condition is good with some weak finish but that didn't bother me. As a Mauser built Deutsches Sportmodell it's not rare, Mauser built the largest number of DSM 34s: 51 thousand. What got my attention was the RFSS stock cartouche and the SN. The SN puts it in a batch of DSM34s that Mauser sold to the Reichsfuhrung-SS in the '34/'35 time period.
-It's all matching but missing the stacking rod which sadly is common. Also wish it had a period correct sling as these are so hard to find and expensive. I'd guess that with a rod and sling you'd add about $400-500 to the value. Bore had quite a bit of dust in it but a quick swipe of a Kroil soaked patch exposed a clean, shiny bore. This one should be a good shooter.

    So that's a Mauser in .22lr ?

Yup! Mauser built all kinds of .22s for both sport and military/police training. I've been keeping an eye out for a Mauser ES340b for a while now. They were primarily sporting/target rifles that occasionally were used as military trainers in the 30s.

And I thought I was cool because I had the Chinese Mauser .22 trainer clone!

I got an ES340B earlier this year (first .22 rifle) and I love it. It's great for 100yd practice. I've since been looking for a DSM34 or KKW.

I'm curious, how does the TU-KKW shoot? Many years ago I was at a tiny estate auction in Timonium and one of these, NIB, was listed in the catalog. I didn't bid on it, seem to remember it selling for around $200-250 which was probably a bit below market at that time. Always wondered if I should have jumped in with a bid.

There ya go! I have an ERMA similar to it and was shocked at the accuracy. Took me totally by surprise.

Have you tried ammo testing to see if you could tighten that group? It looks like some vertical stringing which might be some velocity variations.

.22 ammo testing various rifles with examples (click on the rifle/range to see):

I haven't since the goal is to practice for service rifle match cheaply and I got a case of that stuff cheap with the rebate. It gets a standard deviation of 13-16 and a max spread of around 47 and 48 in groups of 10. I shot that group prone with just a sling, so it could well be shooter error. As long as I can hold 10 ring with a decent X count from prone, it serves its purpose.

That would be great at the

    Nice rifle!
That would be great at the next Axis & Allies shoot.

You could shoot all day for what it costs to put 30 rounds through my 6.5 Arisaka.

    Curious About DSM34.

I am curious about your DSM34. At a later thread, your mentioned your were interested in a ES340b. I have three and might be interested in a trade if your are interested. I will try and attach some photos of the 340's and show which one I will trade. It is a later version that is all original - stock, receiver, barrel and bolt. It would be the second from the top, in the photo. I do not live where these rifles show up in shows, so I have to use the internet and chase around. Let me know what you think. I can send more photos if you would like. Thanks.
