Mouse guns are challenging to shoot accurately. That's the trade-off: smaller footprint, but requires more practice to be effective. I have an LCP with a laser and after some practice, can ring a 6" gong at 7 yards at a good rate of fire.

Might just need more range time with it? Small guns ain't easy to shoot tight, consistently.

FWIW, my smallest semi-auto (1908 Colt, .25acp) - it'll make you work for it, but at 10 yards it'll keep the shots relatively tight. This is 3 (6-round) magazines, standing, as quick as I could re-acquire the miniscule sights.

My LCP is surprisingly accurate. I have a Colt 1908 Vest Pocket in .25 the groups tightly as well.

I make it a point to get it out on the range as often as possible, at nearly 100 years old and kicking strong, it'd be a shame to leave it in the safe.

If anything, I should be practicing more 'reflexive shots' with it.

Doc, I told ya. These little Colts are meant to be shot, and they shoot.

The 35gr Hornady XTP's feed beautifully in mine, but lately all I can find is 50gr FMJ.

My first-gen LCP is accurate enough at 25 feet. For the social distance it's designed for, it's more than up to the task. I used to have a CT laser on mine but took it off because 1) the laser had me focusing on the dot instead of good technique, especially trigger-pull technique, and 2) the gun is more ergonomic to grip and shoot (and conceal) minus the laser housing.

You weren't kidding. It's a ton of fun to shoot.

The real fun is in trying to ring a steel gong at 100 yards, the 'ping' is so adorable from a .25acp at that distance. :D

OP, I don't own an LCP, so I can't give you any pointers - aside from more range time with it.

My wife and I have LCPs, and they are rather accurate once you get the hang of them. What took some getting used to was the heavy trigger pull and the light weight of the gun. After we put a few hundred rounds each through them, we could get tight groupings at 25 feet or more.

My experience with .25 vest pockets is the same; much greater accuracy than anticipated.

Its entirely possible that the LCP just doesn't suit the OP's hand, that's why there is more than one gun in every caliber under the sun. Not every gun suits every hand.

I can't speak to the LCP but I have owned a Kel Tec P3AT since they came out. When I shot IDPA, people were amazed at the accuracy of that gun. From the bench, with my ammo using the CT laser, I can make one ragged hole at 16 yards. That is with a slow press with both hands and forearms on the bench. When I shot IDPA bug, I used just the front sight which I painted orange.

Since my carry guns are all striker fired with long trigger pulls, I was used to it and made good times and good shot placement. Granted, my ammo is tailored for my gun but I would think that an LCP should do better than the OP's experience even with factory ammo.

In my experience, a large part of that is because the trigger is very gritty out of the box. Within a few hundred rounds, the trigger smooths out dramatically, which makes the pull weight much less obvious and much more manageable.

A laser probably wouldn't be the solution for * accuracy * with an LCP. If you wished a laser for target aquisition in the dark at bad breath distances, that's a seperate discussion.

Mouseguns are challenging to shoot up to their potential. Some of it is needing more practice. If it really isn't compatable with your hand/ fingers, you could be sol, and need to pursue your pocket gun Plan B .

I haven't yet fired an LCP, but this discussion did motivate me to dryfire a 1st gen LCP . My DA revolver attuned finger was favorably impressed. And the sights were decent for a mousegun. It was borderline TOO small for my XXL hands to properly grasp, would need live fire to judge. But that's ME . For people with small to average hands, they would love the compactness.

As to what I consider an "accurate" mousegun :

The capability to be plink worthy. Ie hit a 12oz beverage offhand . Can't do it ? Regalated to belly to belly SD. Do so at 5yd, it's gtg. So far the all time best mousegun was my fried's Astra Hammerless .25acp , with which I can hit beer cans 4/5 @ 10yd .

Gadgets like lasers are all fine and good, but if one doesn't learn and practice the basics of sight alignment and trigger control it's all for naught. What happens if the laser batteries go bad when you need it? If you haven't learned and mastered the basics gadgets aren't of much help.

There aren't many guns that are simply inaccurate. If a particular gun is mechanically inaccurate, it should be replaced with another that isn't. Learn the basics...practice the basics.
