Leaving this right here. And yes, I am an NRA member. With fiends like these, who needs enemies?

No, it's not a master plan. About the only good news is that this is a proposed rule...which means we get to comment, and the whole affair stretches out for months. During which there's a chance for saner heads to prevail.

From a legal perspective, the Akins Accelerator business was a miscarriage of justice. This would be much worse. "Machine gun" is a term defined in Federal law. Bump stocks don't meet that definition...and ATF has issued written rulings to that effect. Any redefinition needs to come from Congress, not an administrative whim. We talk big about being "a nation of laws." That means being bound by the law, even when it's not convenient.

So what happens to the people that already own one? Will those person be required to surrender it?

Basically our government is forcing them to live as free men, but face government consequences if caught, or to live as subjects and voluntarily sacrifice their property to the crown.

Today pissed off a lot of conservatives. When you combine this BS, the $1,300,000,000,000.00 spending bill, the new infringements in that spending bill, no border wall, trump calling for DACA relief, anti-2a groups launching a new offensive in the corportate world(youtube, google, facebook, dicks, walmart, citigroup...etc), and the billionaires using our kids in tomorrows march as their political props..... there's a pretty dangerous boiling going on under the radar of the media right now.

Great idea NRA, suggest an administrative agency redefine the law to regulate bump stocks...But, I wouldn't expect much better from their past, we have a right to a license to carry concealed firearms court cases. With it being an absolute that the DOJ does not have the authority to redefine what a machine gun is, it'll be interesting to see what the NRA does when they do.

This goes out to all the drop-in-auto sear owners...If the laws on bump stocks aren't appropriately written. These drop-in devices will be nothing more than expensive paperweights. As, the way the law is written in Florida, they cannot be used in semi-automatic firearms.

Someone needs to make a two piece bump stock where each piece is sold separately.
Its not a bump stock unit you put the pieces together.

The political leadership of this country is entirely disconnected with the interior of the nation. The NRA is 50% anti-gun (fudds), republicans have rolled over, Trump is powerless. When people feel they have no political representation bad things happen. The low-level street brawls we've seen in Berkeley and Charlottesville are reminiscent of the inter-war period Europe. Americans believe their own hubris and think they are immune to such things IF they're even aware such events have happened.

I agree. Trump is powerless. What he said during those White House meetings meant nothing.

Thankfully Gov. Rick Scott paid no attention to The President's comments. Thankfully Florida didn't run with what The President proposed and pass wide sweeping gun control policies. Raising the age limit to 21 for long gun purchases.

Thankfully The MGA paid no attention either. Thankfully they aren't in the process of passing HB1302. A red flag law that would remove the firearms first with due process second. Thereby making gun owners guilty until proven innocent.

    Yup. Powerless.
