In today's climate, how did Cole lose? The winner, Jim Justice, has no 2A voting record and has been largely silent on gun rights.

    A little about Jim Justice.

A billionaire who built up a corporate empire from his father’s inheritance now is running his first major political campaign with a promise to shake up the establishment and restore prosperity after a long period of stagnation. But in this case it’s not Donald Trump. It’s Jim Justice, the Democratic candidate for governor in West Virginia and a coal baron to boot.

He lives in southern WV. He did not have the name recognition in the northern and eastern parts of the state. Many think he should have stayed in the Senate for another term, then run for Governor, but he didn't.

He's a politician. Jim Justice is not. Essentially the same way Trump won.

WV is still a Southern Democrat state in the process of turning Republican. It is far more complex than Rs vs Ds.

WVCDL has a hard line stance against political party posts. Constitutional Carry was passed here with some Democrat support, against some Republican opposition.

I don't think he is for constitutional carry. He doesn't seep to be the best pick for 2nd ammenment.

Other than campus/school carry, any other bills would likely fly through with little or no resistance now with Constitutional Carry already law.
My guess is he may be like the current governor, who pretty much signed all pro-gun bills except constitutional carry.
