    can anyone share some info on identifying old mauser. Lookin at buying a project mauser its a project . no pics yet trying to figure out what it is first before I decide to take it on . only markings on top of barrel is a crown and under that is FAT 41 caliber unknown poss. 7.62 . any help with search info would appreciated . should have taken a pic didn't think quick enough

    Most likely italian Carcano. Should be chambered in 6.5.

    yep, so its not a mauser then. it has a replacement stock looks like a home made job on it nothing like pictured but other wise yes front sight and from what I can see of the bolt looks correct. it was nailed to a wall somewhere as a wall hanger guys asking 50. bucks for it thought id take on a project

    why not post pics?

    the owner of the gun shop has been down and out with a illness he hasn't been able kick and I had to work a side job Saturday when I got their he was closing early for the reason above he did find some ammo with clip and he wants to make sure its safe . Ill take a pic when I get it but it is a model 41 Italian Carcano
