If you buy the correct barrel kit it will come with the adapter to modify the CMMG bolt to allow the use of a dedicated .22lr barrel. At the time I got a Taccom kit to go full AR-22. Not sure if they still sell the kit as they are mostly about PCC these days. They also sold a titanium FP for the CMMG at the time. I also replaced the plastic lipped CMMG mags with metal lipped BDM mags.

Just checked their site and they no longer supply the dedicated barrel collar. Also their barrels are now shrouded with only 4.5" of rifling (its a speed shooting thing). They do still sell the enhanced firing pin and extractor for the CMMG bolt.

The CMMG pin face is large and flat, so a much shallower dent than most other 22 pins, but usually work fine with most triggers that hit mil-spec hard or a little less. Most problems I've heard of are from triggers that hit harder(broken pins) or a LOT lighter(Timney competition). Have Jard in one and the Timney impact in the other, they work, but they are in 22s primarily because I picked them up, and didn't really care for them, or went with something better in centerfire rifles, they are still better than mil-spec, decently fast and single stage. Some have filed the CMMG pin a little sharper, others use the Taccom or Black dog pins.

I have a Rise Armament Rave 140 trigger and it fires off the .22's with no problem. It has no creep and short reset. The straight trigger makes for faster shooting too.

    You are lucky.
I have the several of these triggers in various AR's.
They have been great with the 5.56 ammo.
With my AR10, every 1 out of 10 rounds of the M118LR would fail to fire. Fixed that with an Elftmann trigger.
Using the CMMG 22lr conversion with the Rave 140, I could only get it to fire about 70% of the rounds.

FYI - I called Rise Armament and they have sent me a couple heavier hammer springs to try. Hopefully I can do that this weekend.

Bringing this back cause someone asked me about how much $ I spent as they were looking at the latest M&P 15-22 deal thread.
I did tell him that my situation was different cause
    1) I already had the CMMG kit and was dissapointed in its performance throwing it into an existing AR
    2) Already had some other parts sitting around doing nothing.

Here is what I spent for the Dedicated Upper:
$25 Stripped Upper (purchase $25 on sale)
No need for standard uppper parts kit (no forward assist or dust cover needed)
$99 Barrel $99 Right To Bear 16" M4 barrel deal of the day $99 RTB22LR16M
    $39.95 RTB 22LR Barrel Collar Assembly RTB-22BA415 $39.95
$14.95 RTB-22BA596 22Charging Handle $14.95 (but any charging handle should work)
$50.00 Keymod Handguard Forgot the brand but I thought it was a Matrix
    Threaded Muzzle Cap $5.00
    $234

    CMMG Kit$150
    Total $384

That $384 does NOT include the Lower which I already had and use on another upper that has a Geissele trigger on it. I also already had a spare CMMG 25 round 22LR magazine picked up used from a gun show for $10.

So I have what I feel may be a better shooter than an M&P 15-22 but I'm sharing the lower with other uppers. Total skin in the game is definitely more than an M&P 15-22 though once you include the lower parts. Just that what I needed to buy vs what I already had was much less.
I have noticed that prices are WAY up on parts I spent and advised that person to look at the M&P cause he did not really want to share a lower.

Most of my AR22 were repurposed from 5.56 builds I didn't use. Best deal is the "Right to bear" kits, $250(or less on sale) for a barrel, BCG/collar and 3 mags. That + a cheap handguard, upper and charging handle, and $350 for a complete 22 upper to convert any lower. My favorite AR22 is the above, 4.5" barrel, 7" handguard, and a suppressor or 5" linear comp to screw on and clear the handguard. I use that upper on a few pistol and SBR lowers, but built a P80 lower with a cheap side folding SBA3 brace, used parts bin stuff including a timney impact trigger, and had it built for maybe $300. All in $650 is pricey for a 22, but it runs well, and I could build exactly what I want, instead of trying to modify a M&P 15-22 or another factory rifle. Might be able to be done a hair cheaper, but where a 15-22 is primarily a plastic toy made to look like an AR15, building an AR22 leaves you just a few parts, or at most an upper swap away from using it on rifle calibers.

I'm waiting on a CMMG .22 LR pistol barrel so I can build a dedicated pistol upper. I already gave them my credit card so I could get in line. It's been two months and nothing yet.

It took around 8 months to get a Banshee .22 pistol upper(complete). I finally got it last spring. Thought it is my favorite .22 to shoot, I did have to do a little feed ramp dremel work to get it running right. It's a real shooter now though.

I've been waiting somewhere around a year for a 9mm RDB bolt and 5" barrel. I suppose it will come eventually...

You might get a tax stamp back before that barrel shows up. I've seen lead times of 6-9 months on those.

Great. Maybe that means CMMG will be notifying me that my 9 inch barrel will be shipping soon.

I got my barrel/BCG/mag kits from Right to bear, they ALWAYS show out of stock, and their brand is a couple bucks less than CMMG, but are actually made by CMMG. They both have been out of stock constantly for a couple years now, but I add both brands to a watch list, and got a in-stock e-mail on the RTB branded part within a couple weeks, CMMG brand takes months. Same for some of their other re-branded stuff, got a 6" 300BO barrel sold as their brand, in-stock alert hit the day after I placed it along with the same part under the BA brand, part arrived in the Ballistic advantage wrapper, the BA branded weren't in stock, ever. Think they fill their branded orders soon as the parts come in, and being they sell a ton of CMMG's stuff, they get priority, and so far has worked for me over the last couple years. Their customer service department is awesome too, haven't done in myself, but if you are in MD, they should swap the 25rd mags in the package with 10rd mags if you ask them before placing the order. I order a lot of lowers from them too, and just contact them and add an engraving service so they are ready to go for form 1s if I want.
