    200 rounds down range.
1 small slide bite. My fault. Gripped too high.
    1 failure into battery(maybe me)
2 failed to lock back on last round (probably me)

1st time shooting it. Really just a break in. Trigger needs to do just that, yuck. Gritty take up to a clean break. Reset is short. The grip was not a problem. I fired 200 in less than an hour and had no issues.

That's nice shooting. Outstanding, in fact, considering it was your first time at the range with it. Congrats. I kinda had a feeling the 509 would be a pretty good shooter after watching the Hickok45 videos on YouTube. Your targets prove that it is indeed.

I was considering a 509 earlier this Summer but after dry-firing a new one at Gym Ratz while picking-up a Walther PPQ 45, I wasn't all that impressed. I know it's a service pistol but, damn, the SA trigger-pull had to be 6+ lbs. I didn't attempt DA, though. Keep us updated on how yours breaks-in? I'm eager to know how much better it is after, say, 1000 rounds, 1500 rounds, etc. If an FN is like anything else it tends to get better with use.

I know extra mags are $50+ for the 509. What about leather? Anyone making a holster for it yet?

Again, congratulations on a nice pick-up. I think the 509 is a little underrated and FN hasn't exactly gone out of their way to promote it with the same kinda hoopla CZ did with the P-10.

Thanks Z-man. Luckily I was able to get the 3 mag promo. I have not seen any leather holsters yet. Kydex, it seems that Black Point makes one. The one thing with the FN was aftermarket support. Hope to update it's progress. I'm hoping as the trigger breaks, it helps with accuracy.

I went on YouTube last night looking for some updated owner reviews and stumbled-across this one:

They agreed that the 509's trigger start getting pretty nice after a couple of hundred rounds thru it.

    I'm definitely still interested.

Great update, though I heard the American Steel Ammo Sucks?

Thanks, I don't have that in my inventory. I have not heard good things, that's why.

I also think the accuracy started to improve as the trigger was starting to break in. Just a thought. If you look at the targets, the left was first going 5-1, then right one 5-1.

I got the Apex tactical FN509 trigger. Used the code NCS at Brownells(from Tactical Toolbox YT channel). It was $15 off plus free S&H. I got the FDE one. It ended up being $139.

Trigger and sear installed at Duffy's. Feels amazing.

    "That's what she said!"

i love apex triggers.. been thinking about the FN 509 tactical.... NEED more MONEY!!!

I wish I had waited a year before getting this one. I would have easily got the 509T. IMO, it's the best of the MHS versions released to the public. Be patient, the prices will come down. Basic 509s are sub $500. They started at $600.

Got to do a impromptu shoot on Sunday. The new Apex trigger worked great. Only ran 40 rounds of Rem.UMC 115gr out of it. Had some FTFs. I think in my rush to get out the door, I forgot to lube the rails. Otherwise I was happy with it. I will do a better accuracy test with AE 124gr and HPs.
